The recently acquired core division of Condotte, renamed Condotte 1880, includes the most important and specific part of the construction group’s business, with €1.2 billion of contracts for the construction of roads and civil works in Italy and abroad and major concessions worth around €6 billion. Condotte has a long history dating back to the late 19th century. More specifically, it was founded on 7 April 1880 to design and develop hydraulic and land reclamation works and was also listed on the stock exchange. At the time of the Italian “economic miracle” and the construction of the Autostrada del Sole motorway, it was publicly owned via Fintecna, which privatised it in the late 1990s.
Today, its contracts and concessions concern, among others, Caserta General Hospital, the Lioni to Grottaminarda ‘superhighway’, Algerian rail, the Metro D in Rome, the Port of Otranto, Città della Salute e della Ricerca in Sesto San Giovanni (Milan), Bolzano Prison, a percentage of the Bridge over the Strait of Messina, a Railway and a Highway in Algeria, the Highway in Kuwait.
It has more than 500 employees, in Italy and abroad. Condotte will be overseen by managers with specific experience in the infrastructure construction sector.
